Citroën’s hydropneumatic suspension was a genius innovation that shaped the future of the brand’s luxury car suspension for years to come, offering dynamism and superior ride quality.
With huge levels of comfort and variable and self-levelling ride-height adjustment, the DS fastback was first equipped with this cutting-edge suspension system, followed by the SM luxury Coupe, born from Citroen’s 1968 purchase of Maserati and featuring the Italian V6 engine.
But this system’s unique characteristics introduced new stresses into other areas of the suspension system, and with the cars sitting on their bump stops for prolonged periods when parked, the rubber bump stops soon compressed, and with age essentially disintegrated.
Due to its superior durability, and improved performance and longevity qualities over rubber, polyurethane makes the perfect replacement and this week we would like to introduce the following,
PFF12-340 Front Bump Stop Kit
PFR12-330 Rear Bump Stop Kit
Made using our Dark Grey Heritage 80A durometer material to retain the look of the OE rubber, both feature a concave design on the lower face, to allow for mounting within warped retaining cups which often make aftermarket replacement impossible.
These replace both the upper and lower stops, front and rear on the Citroën DS and ID, and on the rear of the SM and line up alongside our previously released engine mounts for these vehicles.
