It is hard to believe the second-generation Renault Megane first hit our roads 20 years ago. Lauded for its superb handling, the punchier Renault Sport Megane II still finds itself in regular attendance at track events across the globe.
In this environment in particular, and usually fitted with a plethora of tuning mods, the turbocharged RS versions see the original rubber mounts struggle to cope with the torque reaction of the engine. As a result, excessive engine movement compromises smooth power delivery, induces wheel-hop and places undue stress on connected wiring, hoses and exhaust manifolds etc.
This week we are pleased to introduce a new upper torque mount, with various durometer polyurethane bush options for differing states of tune, to help reduce engine movement, improve traction and sharpen gear changes.
PFF60-8020 Upper Engine Torque Mount – Road is an anodised CNC-Machined 6082 Aluminium mount pre-fitted with our Yellow 70A and Purple 80A polyurethane bushes, for a true bolt-off, bolt-on replacement, with no pressing or assembly required. Significantly stiffer than the OE mount, it is recommended for standard or mildly tuned road cars
PFF60-8020P Upper Engine Torque Mount – Fast Road/Track is a further 96% stiffer than the above being made solely in our Purple 80A durometer material and recommended for more heavily tuned road or track cars.
PFF60-8020BLK Upper Engine Torque Mount – Track/MSport sees both bushes being made in our hardest Black 95A durometer material, providing the stiffest link between engine and chassis, for hard track and motorsport use.
This new part is the perfect accompaniment to our existing PFF60-8025 Lower Engine Torque Mount and compliments our existing range of suspension and engine mounting products for your Megane II or Scenic II.
A small increase in NVH, usually at idle should be expected when stiffening the connecting mount between the engine and subframe. The harder the material used, the greater the NVH transmitted.
