The 2015 Civic Type R FK2 was a turning point for Honda and the Type R. A move away from their famed, high-revving normally aspirated engines, to a torquey turbocharged power unit, saw Honda set new standards, with a then world record for the ‘fastest lap time in a front-wheel drive car’ around Germany’s infamous Nürburgring.
However, one thing that stood out in the thoroughly modern Type R was Honda’s choice of rear suspension; a simple torsion bar setup compared to the multi-link setup used by other vehicle manufacturers.
Simple it may be, but it was very effective and with the traction-aiding LSD pulling the front end around corners, the Type R’s handling couldn’t be beaten. Until the bushes wear that is…
In this type of setup, especially when pushing hard, the bush can undergo a large range of motion, slowly wearing the rubber down. As the torsion bar plays a key role in the FK2’s effectiveness, excessive wear and movement can dramatically impact handling.
So, this week we are pleased to announce a solution…
PFR25-910 Rear Beam Bush is made from our Purple 80A durometer material and features a knurled bore for improved grease retention and rotation, restoring rear beam location and stability for more assured handling.
