For a company that had never made a supercar before, Audi‘s 1st Generation R8 was hailed as a triumph; praised for its dramatic styling, blistering performance and balanced handling thanks to its two-seat, mid-engined V8, four-wheel drive layout.
It’s no wonder the second-hand market for this ‘sensible’ supercar is buoyant, especially with early V8 models costing around half of what they did when new.
But don’t let sensible purchase prices fool you. The 1st Gen R8 isn’t exactly cheap to run or maintain, and this week’s release focuses on the ageing suspension components and their costly replacement.
With aluminium double wishbones front and rear and 16 rubber bushes in total, there are a lot of bushes to replace, and with supercar handling at stake, we’re pleased to introduce a precision-engineered, lasting replacement, fitting for such a high-performing vehicle.
PF3-1401 Front Upper Wishbone Bush
PF3-1401 Front Lower Wishbone Bush
PF3-1401 Rear Upper Wishbone Bush
PF3-1401 Rear Lower Wishbone Bush
Made using our range-topping Black 95A durometer polyurethane, these new bushes feature self-lubricating, inner PTFE-lined DU bearings with stainless-steel sleeves, housed in a mild-steel outer shell with supporting washers for compact packaging.
This combination of PU and DU bearings delivers smooth articulation and excellent wear, with the compliance of PU and the high performance and precision of a metal bearing, while increasing stiffness over the worn OE rubber bush by 100% at 1mm displacement for true supercar handling.
These parts also fit the Front Upper and Rear Upper Wishbone positions on the R8‘s Italian stablemate, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560, and carry our industry-leading Lifetime Warranty.
