Not many manufacturers can say they spawned an entire subclass. The VW Golf GTi popularised the hot hatch, the Lamborghini Miura the supercar, and Audi pioneered the performance estate car with the RS2.
Famously out-accelerating the McLaren F1 to 30mph, thanks to Audi’s trademark Quattro 4-wheel-drive system, the super-fast, load-carrying RS2 was jointly developed with Porsche, which meant it could corner as well as it could sprint, all while carrying a family of four and their pet pooch.
2024 is a special year for the RS2 as it marks its 30th birthday; naturally, those cars that are driven as intended are starting to feel their age. One such area is the drivetrain, the rear differential in particular, which is secured to the chassis/subframe by a voided front mount and cross member with bonded rubber bushes.
As these soften and wear, the connection between the differential and chassis is compromised, allowing excessive drivetrain movement, especially in tuned vehicles with increased engine power.
This week, we are pleased to offer a new set of bushes to support and restrict movement in the rear differential, thereby improving throttle response and rear-end traction.
PFR3-126 Gearbox Support Bush Insert is made in our Yellow 70ShA material and fills the voiding in the OE rubber mount to restrict movement, providing greater control at the front of the diff and increasing mount longevity for a part that is no longer available from Audi.
PFR3-127 Rear Differential Crossmember Bush is made in our signature Purple 80ShA material and fits the two mounting positions, reducing drivetrain deflection and preventing unwanted twisting at the rear of the diff.
Both parts are available in our road-biased Dark Grey-coloured Heritage Collection and harder 95ShA durometer Track/Motorsport-focused Black Series for even greater control.
