One of the most popular hatchbacks of the 21st century, the Focus is built on Ford‘s strong history of producing C-segment cars famed for their handling characteristics. The 2005-2010 second-generation Focus was no exception, regularly topping class handling tests.
An often-overlooked factor in controlling handling and feel, however, is the bushes connecting the subframe and vehicle chassis. These components play an integral role in supporting both the weight of the engine and front suspension while also managing vibrations and shocks to protect the chassis and insulate the driver.
The Mk2 Focus uses a hybrid solution, with plastic bushes at the front of the subframe and rubber bushes at the rear. Both of these are prone to ageing, cracking, and wear, which can allow excessive movement in the subframe and result in vague handling.

PFF19-1218 Front Subframe Front Bush is machined using POM-H homopolymer acetal (Delrin) to provide minimal deflection and ultra-high wear resistance.
PFF19-1219 Front Subframe Rear Bush is made with a more traditional Black 95A durometer polyurethane to offer superior performance and durability over the OE rubber bush, contributing towards a more positive steering feel.
A small increase in NVH should be expected when stiffening the connecting mounts between the subframe and chassis.
