Rewind to the late 1970’s. Word has it that Porsche is about to call time on the 911 with the 928 touted as its replacement, believing the 911‘s time was done (can you imagine!) and that had purists worried, very worried.
Thankfully the 911 lives on, but the 928 still deserves a special place in Porsche‘s history as it became their first successful attempt at producing a luxurious grand-tourer blending comfort, performance and handling.
The grunt upfront came from a 4.5ltr 240bhp V8, but it was the handling that impressed most thanks to its aluminium body panels and a passive ‘Weissach axle‘ rear-wheel steering system aimed at enhancing stability during cornering and braking.
It’s this famed ‘Weissach‘ equipped rear-end that is the focus of this week’s newsletter as we launch replacements for the perished OE rubber bushes that impact the performance of such an intelligent system.
With the genuine OE part rarely available and over £400 to buy when it is, our new PFR57-715 Rocker Arm inc. Bush is a Black anodised replacement CNC-machined 6082-T6 grade aluminium arm and 95A durometer outer sleeve and bush, designed to replicate the function of the original rocker arm, providing toe-in during deceleration, thus eliminating lift-off oversteer.
To complement this new addition and provide all necessary bushes for a complete rear suspension bush refresh, we are pleased to introduce the following parts
PFR57-716 Rear Lower Control Arm Inner Bush is made using our Grey 80A material.
PFR57-717 Rear Lower Control Arm Outer Bush is made using our Grey 95A material.
PFR57-718 Upper Control Arm Bush is made in our Grey 95A material and supplied with special tapered sleeves.
All the above parts are supplied with our specially formulated PTFE/Silicone grease and are covered by our unrivalled Lifetime Warranty for peace of mind.
These new parts are in addition to our previously released front parts, to complete our range for the 928.
